We will guide you through the birthplace of the world-famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, through the narrow streets and wide squares of the  UNESCO World Heritage old town.

The city has a musical history, as it was also the location for the filming of The Sound of Music. This film is timelessly known as one of the world's most-watched Hollywood masterpieces, winning five Oscars nominations. And of course, the world-famous Salzburg Festival, which invited visitors for the 100th time in 2020.

Salzburg lies on the border with Germany at the foot of the Eastern Alps. With 155,000 inhabitants, it is the fourth largest city in Austria.

On your self-guided tour, you’ll discover Hohensalzburg Fortress, which is one of the largest preserved castles in Europe. At the Cathedral Quarter you will visit the Cathedral of Salzburg, one of the most important early Baroque buildings, and the old residence of the once powerful prince archbishops.

Next you will follow in the footsteps of the city's most famous resident, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This will lead you to the Mirabell Palace, with its magnificent marble hall and the baroque palace garden.

We have included a boat ride as well so that you can experience the city from a completely different perspective.

A stroll along the Getreidegasse shopping mile with the opportunity to try delicious Salzburg specialties and a visit to Hellbrunn Palace will round off your tour.

We will guide you to eight different stops which are spread out over the course of two miles. With this audio guide you will discover the most beautiful sights of the city. The bus ride we have included to Hellbrunn Palace takes about 50 minutes there and back, and the boat ride 40 minutes. 

Since you’ll certainly want to take a closer look at some of the sights without feeling pressed for time, or want to take breaks to try delicious Salzburg specialties, you should take a whole day for the tour.
