The content of this tour was created by a knowledgeable  historian, who has spent many years living in Paris. The tour aims to introduce the heritage of the city and to help visitors understand the history thoroughly. This app will enhance your touring experience while allowing you to discover the attractions at your own pace. All of the points were selected to explain the old Paris, whether you are interested in the royal buildings that you pass or the details of the unique streets.

We will explore the Ile de la Cité, meaning the City Island. This area is significant as it was the center of Paris in historical and geographical terms, around which the city has grown. The other area on our tour is the neighborhood around the infamous Notre Dame, the legendary cathedral of Paris. It has been a landmark with its long and rich history which has included kings’ coronations, royal weddings, popes’ visits and presidents’ funerals, among many other services. Unfortunately, a terrible fire destroyed the roof in 2019, and the church has been closed for visits ever since. Nevertheless, we encourage you to listen to the details of this monumental sight, while observing the 13th century mega structure from the surrounding bridges. Viewing the architecture of Notre Dame is certainly a lifetime experience under any circumstances.

Beyond Notre Dame, you will learn about the remains of ancient Roman structures and where to find them. You can listen to the story of the medieval palace of the French kings on the island and decide to visit if it interests you. A couple of the bridges are specifically mentioned in the tour as they are crucially important to understand the island. For example, Pont Neuf is a symbol of Paris connecting the royalty and the Louvre. Furthermore, the squares, parks and fountains will paint a colorful picture of life here. Last but not least,a few authentic and very reputable stores and stands are included in the tour, which add their own flavor to the taste of the neighborhood.

Our tour takes you through 21 stations to the most important sights of the Central Island of Paris. With our reliable map, you will always know where you are.

The walking tour covers approximately 2 kilometers and takes about 40 minutes on foot. If you’d like to visit some of the attractions from inside and want to try delicious Parisian specialties during a break, the tour will of course take longer. We suggest taking an entire afternoon for the tour so that you don’t feel pressed for time.  Of course, it is entirely up to you to skip any station if you think that you don’t have time. On this tour you are the boss and determine the duration and pace yourself!

Central Paris is flat and easy to walk around and it makes touring the district very relaxing. While we have ordered the tour for you, it's not necessary to follow our specific route. Choose the course for your day that suits you best and we are here to assist you whenever you need us.

Have fun and enjoy your tour!
